The Neo+ series of single flower vases, which features soft, unique forms that evoke a sense of a plant stretching out stems and branches, is made using neodymium magnets. The series includes the desk type that affixes to a stainless-steel plate, and a wall type that can be installed on wall surfaces or anywhere that a magnet will affix to, such as a metal thumbtack.
Born in Tokyo, he studied under Stig Lindberg at the Sweden-based "Gustavsberg" House, and his design activities have been diverse, ranging from ceramics to glass and stainless steel tableware, lighting and furniture. His Crinkle Super Bag was selected for the permanent collection of the Museum of Modern Art in New York, and his products are still sold in MoMA shops around the world. Other museums around the world, such as the FAENZA Museum of Ceramics in Italy and the VICTORIA & ALBERT Museum in the UK, have his work in their collections. POTS", produced in collaboration with Ceramic Japan, won the Grand Prize in the design category at the 1st International Ceramics Festival '86 Mino.
